Sound familiar?

It's 9pm and you're on the school website again, hunting for one date.

The calendar is a PDF from last August. Half term is in it. The INSET day the school added in January isn't. So you try the council page, which says something else, because the council doesn't set your school's training days. Then you give up and ask the class chat.

What lands in your calendar

The term dates, and the ones nobody tells you about.

Terms and half terms

First day back, last day, and every break in between. Taken from your school's own published calendar rather than the county guide.

INSET days

The training days each school sets for itself. They're the ones that catch people out, and they're the reason a council page was never enough.

The days you have to act on

World Book Day. Pancake Day. Bank holidays and Christmas. Enough notice to find a costume, or at least to buy the flour.

How it works

Three taps, then you can forget about it.

1
Find your school

Type the name, or your postcode to see what's near you. Over 40,000 schools have a page.

2
Tap subscribe

Your phone asks which calendar to put it in. That's the setup. No account, no password, no app.

3
It keeps itself right

It's a subscription, not a one-off download. When the school moves a date, your calendar moves with it.

Subscribing keeps it current. Downloading gives you today's dates and nothing after that.

Where the dates come from

We'd rather leave a date out than guess it.

A wrong term date is worse than no term date. You'd act on it. So every date on this site has to be one of three things, and if it isn't one of them, we drop it and write down why.

SourcedIt's printed on the school's own page. Most dates are this.
DerivedWorked out from a sourced date by a rule the school published, like "we close the Friday before half term".
FixedThe date is the definition. Christmas Day is the 25th of December.

That's why some schools show fewer dates than others. It isn't an oversight on our side, it's the school not having published them yet. See a school page →

What we hold

One email address, and only if you hand it over.

Subscribing to a calendar needs no account, so there's nothing to sign up to and nothing to delete later. We never see your calendar either. We can't. Your phone fetches a file from us; we don't reach into anything of yours.

No children's data. No inbox access. No ads, and nothing sold on. How we handle data →

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. The calendar is free and it stays free. No card, no trial, no account.

Which calendar apps work?

Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook all take it. So does anything else that reads a standard .ics subscription, which is nearly everything.

What if my school changes a date?

Your calendar picks it up on its own, usually within a day. That's the difference between subscribing and downloading a file once.

My school isn't showing up.

Try searching by postcode first, in case the official name is slightly different from the one you'd use. If it's genuinely missing, email hello@theload.app and we'll add it.

Do you read my email?

No. Nothing on this site touches your inbox. That's a different product, and it isn't built yet.

How do I get rid of it?

Delete the calendar in your calendar app, the way you'd delete any other. Nothing of yours sits on our side to clean up.

Find your school. It takes about ten seconds.

Then the dates are in your calendar, and they stay right without you checking.
